Immigration Paralegal - Immigration Court / EOIR About the Position Quijano Law is seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal to support our attorneys in immigration court, removal-defense, family-based, humanitarian, and related immigration matters. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with immigration court cases, strong professional judgment, excellent organization, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both English and Spanish. Professional-level fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required. This position involves daily communication with clients, attorneys, courts, detention centers, and government agencies in both languages. Applicants who are not professionally fluent in both English and Spanish will not be a fit for this role. Primary Responsibilities The Immigration Paralegal will work under attorney supervision and will be responsible for supporting case preparation, document organization, client communication, and immigration-court filings. Responsibilities include: Preparing and organizing immigration court filings, evidence packets, exhibits, indexes, motions, correspondence, and supporting documentation. Assisting attorneys with removal-defense and EOIR matters, including master calendar hearings, individual hearings, asylum-related filings, motions, and other court-driven case needs. Tracking and helping manage court, agency, filing, evidence, and internal case deadlines. Communicating professionally with clients, courts, detention centers, interpreters, experts, opposing counsel, and government agencies. Reviewing client documents for completeness, consistency, and accuracy. Drafting letters, memos, declarations, summaries, procedural correspondence, and filing-related documents. Translating documents and communications between English and Spanish when needed. Preparing and organizing USCIS, EOIR, BIA, and related immigration filings under attorney direction. Maintaining accurate matter records, notes, tasks, deadlines, and filing confirmations. Identifying missing information, case risks, client delays, and filing issues early enough for attorney review and resolution. Supporting daily firm operations and team coordination as needed. Required Qualifications Professional-level fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written. At least 3 years of immigration law experience. Specific experience with immigration court, EOIR filings, removal defense, or detained/non-detained court matters. Strong ability to organize evidence, forms, client documents, filings, and case records. Strong written communication skills in English. Ability to communicate with clients in Spanish in a professional, calm, and accurate manner. Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies in names, dates, addresses, immigration history, court notices, and supporting documents. Ability to manage multiple active cases, deadlines, and priorities with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and general document-management tools. Ability to work in person in the Norcross/Duluth area. Professional demeanor, sound judgment, confidentiality, and reliability. Preferred Qualifications 5 or more years of immigration paralegal experience. Substantial experience with EOIR filings and immigration court case preparation. Experience with asylum, cancellation of removal, bond, motions, family-based petitions, waivers, work permits, and humanitarian immigration matters. Experience communicating with detained clients, detention centers, and family members. Experience preparing attorney-ready filing packets with indexes, exhibits, translations, certificates of service, and supporting documentation. Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred, but substantial immigration-court experience may substitute. Maintains accurate records and does not rely on memory. Can handle a high-volume immigration practice without losing attention to detail. Works well with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. Understands that accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality are essential in immigration law. Hours, Compensation, and Benefits Full-time, in-person position. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Salary range: $62,000 - $72,000, depending on experience. Paid holidays and paid time off.
