Marketing Associate

The Frederick Flying Cows professional basketball team associate program is an experience and opportunity like no other in professional sports! As an associate, you will gain hands-on experience and receive tangible real world experience with direct responsibility in the organization. The Flying Cows are not strictly a basketball organization - we are an event and entertainment asset to the Frederick community. In addition to the basketball season that runs all spring, we host events all year long such as camps, clinics, festivals, a golf tournament, a high school tournament and much more! This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about sports, live events, fan experience, and community building — someone who is ready to step into a visible and impactful leadership role with a growing professional basketball organization. This position offers unmatched hands-on experience in operations, leadership, and event execution — and the opportunity to make an impact on a young and ambitious franchise. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and will be open to performing a wide variety of tasks in order to learn about what is required to create, run and market a professional basketball team and organization. We strongly prefer candidates either from or currently living in the Frederick area. The role is entry level and candidates must be willing to work at a high level in order to successfully fulfill their duties and gain a plethora of experience. This position has an ever-changing schedule due to games, events, appearances and more. Associates are required to work all Frederick Flying Cow home games and all scheduled events, as directed by the General Manager. Associates are given flexibility to work other part time jobs. The associate program is a paid role with a monthly stipend provided. The stipend is paid off part time hours on a minimum wage basis. The candidate must be willing to commit to this position through the next Flying Cows season, which ends in June of 2027. THIS IS AN IN-PERSON OPPORTUNITY! Candidates must already reside in the Frederick area, be willing to commute daily or fully relocate to the area. Preference given to candidates that reside in Frederick.

We are a small team, meaning our associates will work cross functionally, be involved in all aspects of the organization and have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas. With that, the Marketing Associate will prioritize all things branding and public relations of the organization. As the Flying Cows marketing associate, you may work on the following, but not limited to:

• Administer all Flying Cows social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, X, Tik Tok, Youtube, etc…)
• Create pieces of content daily including graphics, reels, and more
• Design promotional emails and manage all mailing lists and custom databases
• Plan and carry out specific marketing campaigns
• Create promotional video content and manage the organization of all assets.
• Manage and update goflyingcows.com & shopflyingcows.com
• Cover Flying Cows games including providing in game updates, posting content, conducting post game interviews and crafting game recaps.
• Work directly with Flying Cows players and coaching staff to highlight and promote the personalities of the organization
• Edit game and player highlight reels
• Write and distribute press releases and garner/manage relationships with local and national media outlets
• Track and provide weekly updates on relevant marketing metrics
• Manage and schedule the mascot performers as well as be the mascot performer, as needed.
• Gameday setup & breakdown
• Work collaboratively with the account manager to promote all sponsors and partners
• Work directly with team General Manager on various aspects of the organization
• Assist with other team projects, as needed

The associate program is designed to provide training where candidates will gain valuable skills that assist you as you progress in your sports career.

We are seeking motivated, energetic, candidates with a goal of building a career in the world of marketing and athletics. Interns should be willing to travel and to work odd hours. This is a fun and rewarding opportunity for candidates who don't require lots of structure and are willing to take risks and try new things.

• Graphic design & video editing background required.
• Strong writing skills required.
• Experience managing social media platforms required.
• Photography & Videography skills preferred and/or willing to learn.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

The Frederick Flying Cows are a professional basketball organization competing in the 94X50 League. The regular season consists of 24 games (12 home and 12 away) from March through May, with playoffs in June. 94X50 offers a high level of play—just a notch below the NBA G League—and provides a competitive option for players building toward elite-level opportunities. The Flying Cows completed their third season in June 2026. In back-to-back-back seasons, they've made the playoffs each year and led their league in attendance while capturing 2 divisional championships and 2 league semi-finals appearances. The Flying Cows have quickly become a standard of excellence within the 94X50 and the most popular sports team in Frederick, MD. Off the court, the Flying Cows are a community asset who has been dubbed as the "greatest quality of life improvement to Frederick in decades".
