Postdoctoral Research Associate

The main focus of Dr. Kaddoumi's Laboratory is to investigate the contribution of cerebrovascular dysfunction to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's diseases and related dementias (ADRD) and to develop therapeutic strategies to restore AD-associated dysfunctional blood-brain barrier (BBB) and improve cognitive function.

College/Department Information: Pharmacology and Toxicology was established as a department at the Medical College of Georgia in 1943. Originally developed to discover how remedies and poisons effected man, modern pharmacology lays the groundwork to discover and develop future generations of therapeutics.

Responsibilities: Design, conduct experiments, analyze, validate, and present research data, contribute to manuscript preparation, and participate in research collaborations. Perform in vitro and in vivo animal studies, behavioral studies, immunohistochemistry and microscopy imaging, molecular biology, biochemical analysis, and bioanalysis. Summarize and evaluate findings, develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Presents findings at scientific meetings locally and nationally. Contribute to training and/or supervision of technicians, graduate and undergraduate students in the lab. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: PhD degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology, Patch clamp electrophysiology, and GCaMP

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work in a team environment.

Shift/Salary/Benefits: Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. This position is (fully/partially) funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds. Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
