Job Description

GSI Metalforming is looking for an experienced Roll Forming Maintenance Technician to support the installation, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of roll forming machinery at customer sites.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with roll forming equipment, industrial machinery, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and machine setup and adjustment.

This is a field-based technical position that requires strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work directly with customers during machine installation, startup, and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and commission roll forming machinery at customer facilities.
• Perform machine startup, setup, testing, and final adjustments.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-related issues.
• Inspect and adjust roll forming tooling, rollers, shafts, bearings, guides, and other machine components.
• Perform roll alignment and machine calibration as required.
• Diagnose issues affecting profile quality, dimensions, material feeding, cutting, and overall machine performance.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on roll forming equipment.
• Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of electrical controls, sensors, encoders, motors, drives, and related components.
• Verify proper machine operation and production quality before completing commissioning.
• Work with GSI's engineering and technical teams to resolve equipment issues.
• Communicate professionally with customers and provide clear explanations regarding machine operation and maintenance.
• Provide basic operator training when required.
• Document service performed, machine adjustments, parts replaced, and outstanding technical issues.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures while working at GSI and customer facilities.

Qualifications

• Previous hands-on experience with roll forming machinery is strongly preferred.
• Experience with industrial machinery installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or commissioning.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, measurements, and technical documentation.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of industrial electrical systems and machine controls.
• Experience working with motors, sensors, encoders, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems is preferred.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, levels, and other diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to identify and correct tooling alignment and machine setup issues.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers and technical teams.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations as required.

• Metal roll forming machines
• Roofing and wall panel roll formers
• Purlin / C&Z roll forming lines
• Steel deck roll forming equipment
• Cut-to-length lines
• Coil processing equipment
• Flying shears and hydraulic cutting systems
• PLC and HMI troubleshooting
• AMS Controls or similar industrial control systems
• Machine installation and field service
• Industrial electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
